The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's volleyball team continued its strong start to the 2026 season Tuesday night, sweeping Brooklyn College 3-0 at the West Quad Center in Brooklyn. The Mariners won the opening set 25-21 before narrowly taking the second set 25-23 and closing out the match with a 25-16 victory. The win moved USMMA to 5-1 overall.
Freshman Anna Kelly led the Mariners with a match-high 10 kills while adding eight digs. Erin Stillinger recorded seven kills while hitting .353 and added three service aces, while Jenny Dyke contributed four kills without an error on seven attacks for a .571 hitting percentage. Miranda Zeng directed the offense with 26 assists while also recording nine digs and three aces.
USMMA's serving and blocking helped control the match, as the Mariners recorded 12 service aces and eight total blocks while holding Brooklyn to a .033 hitting percentage. Jill Sowers led all players with four aces, while Sophie Phillips contributed four kills and was involved in four blocks. Brooklyn started the opening set with a 9-4 lead, but USMMA responded with six consecutive points and eventually pulled away to take control of the match.
