USMMA Defeated Farmingdale

The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's volleyball team picked up a four-set Skyline Conference victory Tuesday night, defeating Farmingdale State College, 3-1, at Liebertz Gymnasium in Kings Point. The Mariners took the opening two sets, 25-18 and 25-15, before Farmingdale answered with a 25-23 third-set win. USMMA closed out the match in the fourth, 25-21, to improve to 11-2 overall and 2-0 in Skyline play, while Farmingdale dropped to 5-3 and 0-1 in conference action.

Farmingdale found its best stretch of the night in the third set, building an 14-8 advantage before USMMA rallied to take a 22-21 lead. The Rams responded by scoring the final three points of the set, with Samantha Russo tying the score at 23-23 on a kill before Alexa Hansen recorded a solo block for Farmingdale and Sarah Rende followed with an ace to send the match to a fourth set. Russo finished with a double-double of 12 kills and 10 digs, while Leslie Wandmacher added nine kills and two block assists.

Rende finished with 25 assists for Farmingdale, while Allison Salinas led the Rams defensively with 16 digs. USMMA's balanced attack ultimately proved decisive as the Mariners secured the fourth set, 25-21, to claim the conference win. The victory also marked USMMA's first win over Farmingdale since 2019, snapping the Rams' three-match winning streak in the series.
