The University of Mount Saint Vincent women's volleyball team continued its impressive start to the 2026 season Thursday night, sweeping Medgar Evers College 3-0 at the Peter Jay Sharp Center. The Dolphins controlled the match from the opening serve, cruising to a 25-7 victory in the first set. UMSV's attack was particularly efficient, hitting .529 while recording 12 kills against just three errors. The Dolphins also put significant pressure on Medgar Evers from the service line, with Alysa Padgett leading the way with multiple aces as UMSV quickly established a commanding advantage.
The second set was even more one-sided as UMSV limited the Cougars to just four points in a 25-4 victory. Mount Saint Vincent continued to generate points through a combination of aggressive serving and a balanced offensive attack. Padgett finished the night with a team-high eight service aces, while Paige Staley added four aces and Sophia Mandalakis contributed three. Stephanie Rodriguez once again helped run the offense, recording nine assists and three aces, while Rebecca Talbert paced the Dolphins with four kills. Medgar Evers struggled to establish any offensive rhythm, committing eight attack errors in the second set alone.
UMSV completed the sweep in the third set, closing out Medgar Evers 25-13 and improving to 2-0 on the season. The Dolphins finished the match with a 20-3 advantage in kills and hit .227 overall, while Medgar Evers finished with a -.586 hitting percentage. Mandalakis and Anna Nolasco each added three kills, while Padgett also recorded three kills to go along with her dominant serving performance. UMSV's 25 total service aces proved to be a major difference-maker, as the Dolphins followed up Wednesday's sweep of Yeshiva with another commanding performance in front of their home crowd.
