The University of Mount Saint Vincent opened its 2026 women's volleyball season Wednesday night with a convincing 3-0 sweep of Yeshiva University at the Peter Jay Sharp Center. The Dolphins had to work through a competitive opening set, with the Maccabees staying within striking distance before UMSV eventually secured a 25-22 victory. After the close start, Mount Saint Vincent found another gear, using its offense and service game to take control of the match. Anna Nolasco, Alysa Padgett and Evelyn Starns each finished with seven kills, giving the Dolphins a balanced attack that prevented Yeshiva from focusing on one primary offensive option.
UMSV carried its momentum directly into the second set, pulling away for a 25-13 win. Sophomore setter Stephanie Rodriguez played a major role in the Dolphins' offensive success, finishing with 17 assists while also recording nine digs and a team-high eight service aces. Padgett added three aces and a block, while Dominique Otranto contributed six kills and a block as UMSV continued to control the net. The Dolphins' serving pressure became increasingly difficult for Yeshiva to handle, with UMSV eventually finishing the night with 17 total aces.
The Dolphins completed the sweep with another strong showing in the third set, closing out Yeshiva 25-14. Angelia Donnelly, making her collegiate debut, provided 14 assists and six digs, giving UMSV another reliable option in the setting role. Sophia Mandalakis added six kills, while Carly Snyder and Gabrielle Mills each recorded six digs as the Dolphins maintained their defensive pressure. UMSV finished with a commanding 39-5 advantage in kills, and its 17 service aces helped turn what began as a close opening set into a decisive straight-set victory. The win gives the Dolphins a 1-0 start both overall and in Skyline Conference play.
