St. Joseph's Brooklyn Wins Over Lehman

St. Joseph’s University Brooklyn women’s volleyball picked up its fourth win of the season Tuesday night, sweeping Lehman College 3-0 at The Hill Center. The Bears controlled the match from the opening set, cruising to a 25-9 victory before closing out the match with 25-22 and 25-16 wins. St. Joseph’s hit .297 as a team while limiting Lehman to a .035 hitting percentage.

Keren Crespo led the Bears offensively with 10 kills on 23 attacks while hitting .391, adding nine digs and two service aces. Madeleine Niño finished with eight kills on 16 attacks and hit an impressive .438 while also recording two aces. Carissa Zwiefelhofer added eight kills, 15 assists and 10 digs, while Karson Brooks anchored the defense with a match-high 14 digs. Abigail Medina contributed 13 assists as St. Joseph’s finished with 41 kills and 37 assists.

The Bears also controlled the match statistically, finishing with advantages of 41-20 in kills, 37-17 in assists, 48-39 in digs and 9-7 in aces. Lehman received nine kills apiece from Alanis Vasquez and Ayah Hamdaoui, with Vasquez also recording 11 digs and four aces. St. Joseph’s improved to 4-3 on the season, while Lehman dropped to 0-10 following the three-set defeat.
