Farmingdale State College women's volleyball overcame a first-set loss to defeat Hunter College 3-1 Tuesday night in New York. The Hawks took the opening set 27-25, but the Rams responded emphatically by winning the second 25-15 before taking the third set 25-21 and finishing the comeback with a 27-25 victory in the fourth.
Senior setter Sarah Rende played a major role in the victory while making program history, recording 46 assists to become Farmingdale State's all-time career assists leader. Rende reached 2,156 career assists, passing the previous school record of 2,148. Her record-setting assist came on a Samantha Russo kill that gave the Rams a 12-9 lead in the fourth set.
Leslie Wandmacher led all players with a career-high 16 kills while hitting .294 and adding two aces and seven digs. Russo finished with 12 kills and five aces, while Mackenzie Marquardt recorded a career-high 10 kills. Asia Perkes and Alyssa Conzatti each added five kills, and Farmingdale State finished with 16 service aces as a team
