Farmingdale State College women's volleyball continued its strong start to the season Thursday night, sweeping Brooklyn College 3-0 at the West Quad Center. The Rams controlled the match from the opening serve, taking all three sets by scores of 25-12, 25-12 and 25-14. Farmingdale hit .341 as a team and finished with a 36-20 advantage in kills.
Leslie Wandmacher and Samantha Russo led the Rams with nine kills apiece, while Mackenzie Marquardt added eight kills. Sarah Rende directed the offense with 20 assists, while Samantha Salinas anchored the defense with a match-high 22 digs. Farmingdale also made an impact from the service line, recording 13 aces compared with just two for Brooklyn.
Farmingdale jumped out to a dominant start in the opening set, hitting .619 with 13 kills and no errors. Brooklyn battled back in stretches but struggled to generate consistent offense, finishing the night with a .043 hitting percentage. Saule Okeke-Ziburkus paced the Bulldogs with seven kills, while Olivia Fan added six. The victory improved Farmingdale to 4-1 on the season, while Brooklyn dropped to 1-4.
