St. Joseph’s University Long Island opened its matchup against York College with a dominant 6-0 victory Tuesday afternoon at the York College Courts. The Golden Eagles controlled both doubles and singles play, earning the shutout in a match that marked the start of York’s 2026 season.
St. Joseph’s took both completed doubles matches, with Amanda Andree and Kayla Mansfield posting a 6-0 victory at No. 1 doubles over Franeidy Mauricio and Usha Sinclair. Rachel Wind and Victoria Arent followed with another 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles against Andrea Cedeno and Silvia Rivera, giving the Golden Eagles the early advantage.
The Golden Eagles carried that momentum into singles, winning all five completed matches in straight sets. Andree defeated Mauricio 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Wind defeated Sinclair by the same score at No. 2, and Mansfield also recorded a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3. Amanda Barile and Arent completed the singles sweep with identical 6-0, 6-0 victories over Rivera and Tyla Hooks, respectively.
