Sarah Lawrence College opened its 2026 women's tennis season in impressive fashion Friday afternoon, defeating Albertus Magnus College 6-1 at Celentano Courts in New Haven. The Gryphons grabbed two of the three doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead before carrying that momentum into singles play, where they won five of six matches to secure the overall victory.

The No. 2 doubles team of Carolina Gherardi and Serafina Panuccio set the tone with an 8-4 victory, while Annabelle Abruzzo and Anastasia Grishikas added an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles to clinch the opening point. Sarah Lawrence then received dominant singles performances from Josephine Jackson, who cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 2, and Serafina Panuccio, who posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3.

The Gryphons continued to roll through the lineup, with Elena Valente earning a 6-0, 6-0 shutout at No. 5 singles and Carolina Gherardi adding a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 6. Addison Chalmers provided one of the day's most competitive matches, battling back after dropping the first set to defeat Aprile Allen 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-8) in a super-tiebreak. Albertus Magnus' lone point came at No. 1 singles, where Madison Rossetti defeated Neomi Spellman 6-0, 6-2.
