Mount Saint Mary College opened its 2026 women's tennis season with a 5-2 victory over Brooklyn College on Saturday afternoon in Newburgh. The Knights secured the overall match by taking two of the three doubles contests and winning three of the six singles matches. Brooklyn did manage to earn a point at No. 2 doubles, where Aniyah James and Amara Stewart defeated Megan Mann and Chloe Graham 6-1.
Mount Saint Mary answered with a tightly contested victory at No. 1 doubles, as Sydney Sladicka and Autumn Strobach edged Brooklyn's Alexis Goodman and Medina Kuc in a 7-6 decision. The Knights also claimed the No. 3 doubles match 6-3, giving Mount Saint Mary a 2-1 advantage heading into singles. The match then featured several competitive individual contests, including Brooklyn's Aniyah James taking the opening set at No. 2 singles before Mount Saint Mary rallied to win the match in three sets.
Brooklyn picked up two singles victories, with Medina Kuc earning a convincing 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles and Amara Stewart winning 6-0, 6-4 at No. 5. Mount Saint Mary captured the remaining four singles positions, including the No. 1, No. 2, No. 4 and No. 6 matches, allowing the Knights to close out the 5-2 victory and begin the season 1-0.
