Farmingdale State College opened its 2026-27 women's tennis season Sunday afternoon with a 7-0 loss to Oswego State in Oswego, New York. The Lakers took control early by sweeping all three doubles matches, giving them a 1-0 lead heading into singles play. Farmingdale's No. 2 doubles team of Gabriella Loria and Emma Johannsen put together a competitive performance, falling 6-4 to Oswego's Avery Borman and Aubrey Salati.
The Rams continued to battle in singles, with Kaelin Burnett delivering the strongest performance of the afternoon at No. 1. Burnett pushed Borman through three sets after taking the first set 6-7 and responding with a dominant 6-0 second set. The match ultimately went to a super tiebreaker, where Borman edged Burnett 10-6. Loria also stayed competitive at No. 2 singles before falling 6-5, 6-4, while Johannsen dropped her No. 4 singles match 6-3, 6-4.
Oswego completed the sweep by winning the remaining singles matches in straight sets. Emily DeLuca defeated Ana Hernandez 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3, Kate Hayes defeated Johannsen 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4, Isabella Eason defeated Marybeth Zimos 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5, and Aubrey Salati shut out Emily Vazquez 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6. Despite the result, Farmingdale showed competitive stretches throughout the lineup, particularly from Burnett and the No. 2 doubles team.
