Farmingdale State College earned its second consecutive victory Tuesday afternoon, defeating previously once-beaten Baruch College, 5-2, in a non-conference matchup in Farmingdale. The Rams took two of the three doubles matches, both by 6-4 scores, to secure the opening point before winning four of the five completed singles matches to finish off the team victory.
Marybeth Zimos and Ana Hernandez got Farmingdale on the board with a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles over Ruth Kay Madariaga and Mariam Ghanem. Natalia Furchel and Gabriella Loria then clinched the doubles point at No. 1 with another 6-4 victory over Anusha Yadav and Cindy Joyette. Loria carried that momentum into singles, defeating Doyeong Lee 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3.
The Rams continued to pull away in singles as Emma Johannsen defeated Eveline Aleksandrov 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 at No. 5, Kaelin Burnett edged Cindy Joyette 7-6 (7-4), 3-6, 6-3 at No. 2, and Furchel earned a three-set victory over Anusha Yadav at No. 1, 6-4, 6-7 (1-7), 6-3. Baruch's Aishika Yadav and Farmingdale's singles lineup had been key contributors throughout the season, with Yadav entering the match having already recorded 49 career singles victories.
