The University of Mount Saint Vincent women's soccer team earned a 2-0 Skyline Conference victory over Manhattanville University on Tuesday afternoon at GoValiants.com Field. The Dolphins took control early, with Michelle Zuniga opening the scoring in the 22nd minute before Ariana Hernandez doubled the lead in the 38th minute. UMSV carried the 2-0 advantage into halftime and never surrendered control of the match.
Zuniga was the focal point of the Dolphins' attack, recording a team-high six shots and putting five on target in addition to her fourth goal of the season. Hernandez added three shots and two shots on goal, while Kerrigyn Lynam and Eva Puentes each registered two shots. UMSV finished with 19 shots and 12 shots on goal, while Manhattanville managed seven shots and five on target.
The Dolphins' defense and goalkeeper Kaitlyn Grady finished the job in the second half, keeping Manhattanville off the scoreboard for the shutout. Grady made five saves over 90 minutes, while Manhattanville goalkeeper Gabrielle Billetz was busy throughout the match with 10 saves. UMSV also held advantages in corner kicks, 8-3, and moved to 4-3-1 overall and 3-0-1 in Skyline Conference play with the victory.
