St. Joseph's Rallies back to Defeat William Paterson

St. Joseph’s University, Long Island rallied from an early deficit to earn a 2-1 road victory over William Paterson University on Tuesday night in Wayne, New Jersey. The Pioneers opened the scoring in the 10th minute when Sophia Veloso finished a cross at the far post, but the Golden Eagles responded before halftime to level the match.

Jocelyn Forseth provided the offensive spark for St. Joseph’s, scoring both of the Golden Eagles’ goals. Her first came in the 26th minute after Alyssa Guiliano played the ball forward, with Forseth finishing from distance to make it 1-1. Forseth struck again in the 52nd minute, turning a ball played into the box by Lauren Phillips and Gabriela Saravia into the eventual game-winning goal.

William Paterson finished with advantages in both shots and shots on goal, holding a 7-3 edge in total shots and a 5-3 advantage in shots on target. St. Joseph’s goalkeeper made four saves to preserve the one-goal lead, while the Golden Eagles also earned six corner kicks compared with seven for William Paterson. The win moved St. Joseph’s to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
