St. Joseph’s University Long Island women’s soccer picked up a 2-0 Skyline Conference victory over Purchase College on Tuesday night at Danzi Stadium. The Golden Eagles controlled the match defensively and kept Purchase off the scoreboard throughout the 90 minutes, securing their second straight home victory after returning to Patchogue.
The Golden Eagles continued to apply pressure as the match progressed, eventually finding the breakthrough and adding a second goal to put the contest out of reach. Purchase was unable to generate enough offensive pressure to answer, as St. Joseph’s protected its advantage through the final whistle and recorded the shutout. The result moved St. Joseph’s to 5-7-3 overall, while Purchase fell to 2-5-2.
St. Joseph’s entered the matchup looking to rebound from a 2-0 loss to USMMA on September 23, when Kristin Vahle made eight saves for the Golden Eagles. The victory over Purchase gave St. Joseph’s another important conference result heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
