Sarah Lawrence defeats Yeshiva in season opener

Sarah Lawrence opened its 2026 women's soccer season in dominant fashion Tuesday night, defeating Yeshiva University 11-0 at Fleming Field in Yonkers. The Gryphons wasted little time establishing control, putting 29 shots on goal in the opening half and scoring six times before halftime. Giuliana Sheehan opened the scoring in the 11th minute before senior Katey Beaver quickly took over, scoring twice within a six-minute span to give Sarah Lawrence a 3-0 advantage. Beaver, a three-time all-conference selection entering her final season, finished the night with four goals and two assists, while Charlotte Callicott created several opportunities from the back and midfield and recorded an assist.

The Gryphons continued to apply pressure as the opening half progressed, adding three goals in the final seven minutes before the break. Chloe Barker made it 4-0 in the 39th minute, followed by goals from Phoebe Workman and Whitney Erickson less than a minute apart. Workman finished with two goals, while Barker also scored twice on the night. Sarah Lawrence entered halftime with a 6-0 advantage and continued attacking immediately after the restart, with Workman scoring her second goal just 1:55 into the second half. Beaver then completed her hat trick in the 50th minute before adding her fourth goal less than four minutes later.

Sarah Lawrence's depth continued to make an impact throughout the second half, with Emma Mangan and Barker adding the final two goals of the contest. The Gryphons finished with a commanding 45-0 advantage in shots and earned six corner kicks while keeping Yeshiva from registering a shot during the entire match. Yeshiva goalkeeper Rena Neiger faced constant pressure but made 18 saves, helping prevent the margin from growing even further. Sarah Lawrence goalkeeper Bella Vaca did not face a shot on goal as the Gryphons opened the season with a clean sheet and an 11-0 victory.
