FARMINGDALE ADVANCES PAST MOUNT SAINT MARY'S

Farmingdale vs Mount Saint Mary’s-

            Farmingdale advances to the finals after defeating Mount Saint Mary’s in an overtime thriller that came down to the wire. Mount Saint Mary’s got off to an early lead, but a second quarter comeback by Farmingdale tied the game up at half, then Farmingdale seemed to pull away until the fourth quarter when Mount Saint Mary’s rallied back and put up 3 unanswered goals with Shannon McGowan scoring the go ahead goal. Things looked bleak for Farmingdale until Emily Sohm tied the game up with just 1:27 left in the game forcing overtime. Then in the overtime neither team could get it going until Emily Sohm continued her clutch performance scoring her second and most important goal giving them the lead with just 3 minutes left in overtime. Farmingdale held onto that lead giving them the win and sending them to the Skyline Finals. Carly Livingston, Kailee Coppola and Emily Sohm led Farmingdale in this low scoring game with 2 goals each, followed by Molly Espey and Jordyn Neu with 1 goal each, then Rylee Valenzano added 1 assist, Giavanna Stamatelo was stellar in the net picking up 10 saves and holding Mount Saint Mary’s to just 7 goals. For Mount Saint Mary’s Kasey Senior led the way with 3 goals and 1 assist, followed by Shannon McGowan with 2 goals and 2 assists, then by Antonia Licardi and Delisianna Naccarato with 1 goal each Peyton Curley played fantastic in the goal with 14 saves while holding the usually explosive Farmingdale offense to just 8 goals. Farmingdale is now heading to the finals.
