Coach Connolly Winter Break Interview

Coach Connolly Winter Break Interview

1-      You are heading into the second half of the season with a 3-3 record, on the back of a 2-game winning streak, how do you keep this momentum going after winter break?

-The 3-3 record is a good point of where we are at. I would say all momentum is lost. We are really at the halftime of our season. We are hoping we can gain the momentum again this upcoming game and practices to stride nicely into the second half of the season.

2-      How have you gotten your team to bounce back after a few tough losses?

-A couple of toss losses for sure but we are a pretty smart group. The players understand every game has its different challenges and were not even close to our full potential yet. We are just focused on trying to get better everyday and not worry too much about the results.

3-      Madelyn Barone has really had a stellar season. How has she grown as a leader for these girls over the course of the season so far?

-She has been amazing. She is a sophomore and definitely our biggest leader on and off the court. With the injury to Megan Spina she was asked to step up in a way no sophomore should have to but she has handled it remarkably well.

4-      You come back from break with two non-conference games against two tough opponents, have you already begun to prepare your team for these teams?

-One game at a time but we are full prepared for FDU and what they do. One game at a time. I will probably start looking at Baruch on Sunday but have given them a couple looks throughout the season.

5-      What adjustments do you think you guys have to make in order to compete for a championship this season?

- A championship......we'd probably need a lot of things to happen. We're focused on continuing to grow and gain experience with this young group. I think we are making a lot of progress. We would love to put ourselves in position to make a playoff run

6-      Lastly and most importantly, what would be the single best Christmas gift you could receive this -year? (Not basketball related)

-ugh man. im late to the christmas present. basketball wise id love 70% from the free throw line haha. But best christmas gift was my new kitchen pans...im a big cook in the kitchen. HBest gift though would be my girls staying happy and healthy.
