SUNY Purchase
Preseason Report 2025
Purchase comes off a relatively successful season finishing 14-12 overall and 10-6 in the Skyline Conference. They unfortunately ran into Yeshiva in the quarterfinals of the Skyline Conference Playoffs which led to the end of their season. With that being said they are losing a few key players including their leading scorer last season Rashid Nikiema who averaged 19.2 points and 6.2 rebounds. Along with Rashid they lose their next two leading scorers Chad Duke and Gabe Britow.
They will need to replace a large amount of scoring and defense from last year and that will start with a few of their returning players. First Trey Skeete who averaged 8.3 points and 6.3 rebounds, he will look to increase his scoring and play making but more importantly he will look to expand on his defense this year, Trey led the team in steals last season with a total of 44 by years end. Second is Desmond Ward who averaged 5.1 points and 3.6 rebounds in his limited time with the team last season. Third is Sean Holzman who averaged 2.4 points and 2.5 rebound, he appeared in 25 games last season being a consistent presence each game, they will look to him to improve this season to make up for the lost points and rebounds from last season.
SUNY Purchase is led by Coach Jake Dignan who arrived in Purchase prior to last season. Coach Dignan previously was an assistant at Skyline rival Sarah Lawrence, so he is well accustomed to this conference and its talent. SUNY Purchase has a history of success and they will look to continue it despite the loss of a few of their key players. They will open up at home against Kean University on November 8th.
