OLD WESTBURY PUNCHES THEIR TICKET TO THE PLAYOFFS

Old Westbury vs St. Joseph’s-

Old Westbury punches their ticket into the playoffs after an explosive second half against St. Joseph’s. Old Westbury went into the second half down, but managed to pull off a 40-20 half securing the victory, they picked up 9 steals which gave them 21 easy points and held St. Joseph’s to just 35% shooting. Old Westbury was led by Jermain King Jr. with 15 points and 6 assists, followed by Joel Ofori who had a double-double, with 14 points and 16 rebounds, followed by Imole Akinwale with 14 points and Christian Thomas with 12 points. For St. Joseph’s they were led by Kenny Rodriguez with 15 points and AJ Esposito with yet another double-double, 13 points and 11 rebounds. St. Joseph’s clinched a playoff birth last week, and they will take on Farmingdale in the first round, but for Old Westbury, them making the playoffs was shocking after the slow start they had, but play from King Jr., Ofori and Akinwale really turned their season around in the second half of the year, having a few impressive wins to bring them over the top and into the playoffs. Old Westbury finishes the year with a 7-9 conference record as At. Joseph’s falls to an 8-8 record.
