Yeshiva and St. Joseph's Tie

Yeshiva University and St. Joseph’s University Long Island played to a 1-1 draw Wednesday night in a Skyline Conference matchup at Greg Alfano Field. Yeshiva struck just 1:21 into the contest when Franco Busso found the back of the net, giving the Maccabees an early advantage. St. Joseph’s continued to generate chances throughout the opening half and eventually leveled the match when Edson Munoz scored with just over a minute remaining before halftime.

The Golden Eagles carried much of the offensive pressure throughout the match, finishing with a 22-9 advantage in shots and an 13-3 edge in corner kicks. Yeshiva goalkeeper Nicolas Galer was tested throughout the night and finished with six saves, while St. Joseph’s goalkeeper recorded five saves as both defenses held firm during a scoreless second half.

Neither side could find a decisive goal after the break, with Yeshiva putting five shots toward goal in the second half and St. Joseph’s recording 10 total attempts. The draw moved Yeshiva to 2-1-2 overall and 0-1-2 in conference play, while St. Joseph’s moved to 0-2-2 overall and 0-0-1 in the Skyline standings.
