The United States Merchant Marine Academy and Farmingdale State College played to a 0-0 draw Tuesday night in a Skyline Conference matchup in Farmingdale. The result kept the Mariners unbeaten in their last nine matches, while Farmingdale earned a point against one of the conference's top teams. USMMA entered the contest at 5-1-8 overall, while Farmingdale moved to 3-5-2.
Both teams created opportunities throughout the 90 minutes, but neither could find the breakthrough. USMMA finished with a 16-15 edge in shots and put eight attempts on target, while Farmingdale recorded two shots on goal. Robert Derwin led the Mariners with four shots and three on target, while Andrew Jung also registered four shots and two shots on goal. For Farmingdale, Lucca Noboa and Christian Russo each put a shot on target.
The Rams' defense and goalkeeper Vas Dallas kept the Mariners off the scoreboard, with Farmingdale recording eight saves compared with two for USMMA. The teams also remained relatively even in the other major statistical categories, with Farmingdale holding a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks. The draw gave USMMA another positive result in Skyline play while Farmingdale continued its conference schedule with a hard-earned point.
