Manhattanville Bests UMSV

Manhattanville University rallied from a second-half deficit to defeat the University of Mount Saint Vincent, 2-1, Tuesday night in a Skyline Conference matchup at Marillac Field. After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, UMSV took the lead early in the second half, but the Valiants answered with two goals, including the game-winner with just 1:13 remaining. Manhattanville improved to 7-1-3 overall and 4-0-0 in Skyline play, while UMSV fell to 4-3-2 and 3-1-1 in conference action.

UMSV broke through in the 50th minute when freshman Cole Zent headed home a cross from Manuel Vidal for his first collegiate goal. The Dolphins continued to pressure Manhattanville throughout the half, finishing with 16 shots and 12 corner kicks. Marti Senyer led UMSV with three shots, while Vidal, Jenluis Henriquez and John Brienza each recorded a shot on target.

Manhattanville responded with the equalizer in the 53rd minute before finding the decisive goal in the 89th minute to complete the comeback. UMSV goalkeeper Miguel Fierro kept the Dolphins within striking distance with seven saves, while Manhattanville finished with a 16-9 advantage in shots despite UMSV controlling the corner-kick battle, 12-2.
